How secure is the platform?
Very. At Outleap, we prioritise data protection and security, implementing rigorous measures to ensure all personal data is stored securely and processed in line with GDPR regulations. Here are some of the measures we take to ensure your data is safe:
- Only UK and EU data centres: Student data and backups are only stored and processed in UK and Ireland data centres. All data is stored in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018. Our ICO registration reference is ZB393894
- Multiple Firewalls: To safeguard your online interactions with us, we use an enterprise-grade WAF. This security system is designed to block prevalent web attacks such as Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), SQL Injection, and Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF), ensuring your data remains secure.
- DDoS Mitigation: We use advanced technology to absorb and mitigate Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, ensuring that our platform remains accessible and secure.
- Encryption: All data, including backups, are encrypted both at rest and during transit using robust 256-bit SSL/TLS encryption. Sensitive data, such as passwords, are hashed and salted for added protection.
- Layered access security: Administrators have limited access to student data, and only when strictly necessary. We use user-type appropriate password rules regarding password length, complexity, age, number of allowed failed logins per day, re-use of old passwords, and 2-step authentication.
- Secure Servers: Are servers are provided by Google. Only our lead developers and Managing Director have access to this environment. Servers are automatically updated as soon as security patches are released.
- Regular Backups: We perform daily backups of our databases, ensuring that data can be recovered if needed. Our backups are held in multiple geographical locations for added safety.
- Vulnerability Assessments: Regular vulnerability assessments are performed to identify potential security risks. We also employ real-time protection measures to secure our platform.
- Data Recovery: We keep complete version histories of our user data. If accounts are accidentally deleted, we can recover them, provided we are alerted in time.
