Safeguarding

Safeguarding sits within your framework, not around it.

Outleap is designed to operate inside your school's existing safeguarding framework. AI feedback is advisory and visible to staff, role boundaries prevent inappropriate access, progression signals help staff spot support needs, and workflow actions are logged for auditability. Automated safeguarding alert delivery and routing are not active in the launch product.

Controls

The safeguards schools need before rollout.

Safeguarding is part of setup and governance, agreed with your DSL before students begin.

Advisory feedback, visible to staff

AI feedback is advisory and bounded to the student's own work. Staff can see the feedback every student receives, on the same record as their progress. CV and application support is the student's own. References and Opportunity Radar are coming September 2026.

Role-scoped access

Students, tutors, coordinators, and platform admins each have distinct access boundaries. Students see only their own work and the feedback on it.

Progression visibility

Outleap surfaces progression risk flags — for example no evidence entries, an undecided pathway, or a statement not started. These are operational signals for support, not automated safeguarding alerts or holds.

School-owned escalation

Safeguarding concerns follow the school's own DSL route. Outleap makes no safeguarding decisions; escalation stays within the school's governance structure and policy, with Outleap support available for operational handoff if the school asks for help.

Accountability

Signals can support review. They do not replace professional judgement.

Outleap keeps student-facing AI assistance inside a visible staff workflow so schools can define how concerns are reviewed and escalated.

What would be unsafe
  • Private student AI interactions with no staff visibility.
  • Assumed automated alerting or DSL routing before it is live and agreed.
  • AI-generated safeguarding decisions or sensitive reference claims.
Outleap posture
  • Student content and feedback stay visible to authorised staff.
  • School safeguarding routes remain the route for welfare concerns.
  • Audit logs record workflow actions and decisions without logging raw student statement text or AI output content.
Safeguarding review

Walk through controls with your DSL or governance team.

Review how AI feedback works and what staff can see, role-scoped access, school-owned escalation, audit records, and the trust-pack documents together.
